On Tuesday and Wednesday, December 10 and 11, 2024, in the premises of the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka, a workshop on augmented reality technology (XR) and biotechnology will be held in collaboration Academy, KONTEJNER and UR Institute based in Zagreb and Dubrovnik.
The participants of the workshop will have the opportunity for two days to explore the world of highly experimental biodesign and the potential of XR technology in the creative and artistic sphere, and to try different biotechnological and biohacking methods. Some outputs of completed projects of UR Institute – Dubrovnik Postmodern and DIVE IN are also used in the implementation of the workshop.
The workshop takes place under the leadership of Mihael Giba, multimedia artist and teacher at the Academy of Applied Arts, and Gjino Šutić, artist, biotechnologist and founder and director of the UR Institute for independent interdisciplinary applied scientific research, production of related projects and advocacy for the application of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) in sustainable development.
The workshop is organized as part of the European project Realities in Transition, dedicated to the research and promotion of alternative artistic creativity in augmented reality (XR). KONTEJNER is one of the European partners in the Realities in Transition project.
